Trail Control Kit, save 20%

UP TO 27% MORE TRAIL CONTACT
Inspired by spider webs, the lugs on the SpinWeave® outsole flex depending on the terrain. Independent research shows this increases ground contact by up to 27% vs. competitors, maximizing the unrivaled traction of Vibram® MegaGrip rubber.

SKIN-TO-TRAIL CONNECTION
TerraSkin® is a shoe-and-sock system built on 30 years of X-Bionic next-to-skin expertise. The sock works with the shoe to boost airflow through aligned ventilation, while targeted GripYarns connect with the sockliner to improve hold.

VERTICAL CUSHIONING, LATERAL STABILITY
The patented SpeedFrame® construction lets the soft foam core cushion vertically on landing while stabilizing the foot horizontally. It's like mountain bike suspension for your feet, giving you cushioning and precise control on uneven ground.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the TerraSkin® X01 built for?
What is the TerraSkin® X01 built for?
The X01 is the all-conditions trail shoe in the TerraSkin® range. It is built for long days on wild, varied terrain, rocks, roots, soft ground, mud, wet, at distances up to and around the marathon. The SpeedFrame® chassis gives you cushioned lateral control on uneven ground, the SpinWeave® outsole bites into soft and wet surfaces, and the cushioning is set at 3/5 to keep the platform stable rather than soft. If your runs mix technical climbs, fast flats and committed descents, this is the model designed for that profile.
How does the X01 fit: should I size up?
How does the X01 fit: should I size up?
The X01 runs true to size for most runners. The SkinKnit® upper adapts to the shape of your foot, and the lockdown comes from the sock-shoe system rather than from squeezing your foot in a narrow last. If you have a wider forefoot, or you regularly run long descents where the toes need room, take a half-size up. Toe-box volume on technical terrain is the single most common reason a buyer moves up half a size, the rest of the fit takes care of itself.
How is the X01 different from the X00/C and the X03?
How is the X01 different from the X00/C and the X03?
Three shoes, three jobs. The X00/C adds a Power-Lite Carbon plate for marathon racing and high-intensity training, energy return on hard efforts. The X01 is the same complete cushioned control platform without the carbon, built for everyday long runs and ultra training on the same demanding terrain. The X03 steps up to 5/5 cushioning, a 6mm drop and a wider fit for ultra distances and first ultra races. Pick the X01 if you want technical control for long trail days without the racing-specific carbon ride.
How does the SpinWeave® outsole grip in mud and on wet rock?
How does the SpinWeave® outsole grip in mud and on wet rock?
The SpinWeave® outsole pairs a spiderweb-inspired adaptive lug pattern with Vibram® MegaGrip rubber. The lugs adjust dynamically to uneven ground, which means more rubber actually touches the surface, on wet rock, in mud, on loose descents. The result for you is confident foot placement on the downhill, fewer slips on technical sections, and the freedom to keep running where other shoes ask you to brake.
Do I need to wear socks with the X01?
Do I need to wear socks with the X01?
You can run the X01 with or without socks. The SkinKnit® upper is engineered as a sock-shoe system: GripFix yarns anchor your foot to the footbed, aligned ventilation channels move moisture, and the seamless knit prevents the hot spots that cause blisters. Most runners use a thin performance sock for ultra distances and long days. For shorter sessions, plenty of runners use the X01 sock-free, the system is built to work both ways.
