Trail Control Kit, save 20%

UP TO 27% MORE TRAIL CONTACT
Inspired by spider webs, the lugs on the SpinWeave® outsole flex depending on the terrain. Independent research shows this increases ground contact by up to 27% vs. competitors, maximizing the unrivaled traction of Vibram® MegaGrip rubber.

SKIN-TO-TRAIL CONNECTION
TerraSkin® is a shoe-and-sock system built on 30 years of X-Bionic next-to-skin expertise. The sock works with the shoe to boost airflow through aligned ventilation, while targeted GripYarns connect with the sockliner to improve hold.

VERTICAL CUSHIONING, LATERAL STABILITY
The patented SpeedFrame® construction lets the soft foam core cushion vertically on landing while stabilizing the foot horizontally. It's like mountain bike suspension for your feet, giving you cushioning and precise control on uneven ground.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is the TerraSkin® X03 built for?
Who is the TerraSkin® X03 built for?
The X03 is the long-distance shoe in the TerraSkin® range, and the entry point. At €200 it brings the full TerraSkin® system to more runners. It is built for long training days and first ultra races, where the limit is comfort over distance rather than terrain. The 5/5 cushioning, 6mm drop and roomier fit give you the platform to keep moving when other shoes start to hurt. If your goal is to finish strong over long distances, this is the model designed around that goal.
How does the X03 fit: is it really wider than the rest of the range?
How does the X03 fit: is it really wider than the rest of the range?
Yes. The X03 has the widest fit in the TerraSkin® range. The independent scale data on the product page sits at FIT 3/5 from verified buyers, true to size, with comfort, performance and design all at 5/5. Take your usual size. The SkinKnit® upper still adapts to the shape of your foot, the lockdown still comes from the sock-shoe system, but the overall last is more accessible: more space across the forefoot, room for feet to swell over ultra distances, easier in-and-out at aid stations.
What does 5/5 cushioning actually feel like under foot?
What does 5/5 cushioning actually feel like under foot?
Maximum stack in the range with a 6mm drop. The SpeedFrame® chassis still controls the side-to-side movement so the cushion never feels wobbly, that is the point of cushioned control. Vertical impact is dampened, lateral movement is guided. For you, that means hours of running where impact doesn't become the bottleneck, with a platform that stays stable on uneven ground rather than soft and unpredictable. Compared with the X01 (3/5 cushion) or the X02 (2/5), the X03 trades responsiveness for protection.
How does the X03 grip on wet ground and long downhills?
How does the X03 grip on wet ground and long downhills?
Same SpinWeave® adaptive lug pattern, same Vibram® MegaGrip rubber as the rest of the TerraSkin® range. The lugs adjust dynamically to uneven ground, so more rubber actually touches the surface, on wet rock, in mud, on loose ground. Independent reviewers have described the outsole as gripping mud, rocks and water with no slipping. On long descents that is the difference between braking with your quads and letting the shoe handle the contact: you finish stronger because your legs aren't fighting the surface.
Will the X03 cause blisters on a first ultra?
Will the X03 cause blisters on a first ultra?
The SkinKnit® upper is engineered as a sock-shoe system to prevent the hot spots that cause blisters. GripFix yarns anchor your foot to the footbed so it doesn't slide inside the shoe. Aligned ventilation channels move moisture, the seamless knit removes the stitched edges that usually cause friction, and the wider fit gives swollen feet room to move without pressure points. Most ultra runners wear a thin performance sock with the X03; the system is engineered around the assumption that comfort needs to last.
