What does the carbon plate in the TerraSkin® X00/C do for me?
The Power-Lite Carbon plate runs through the midsole and stiffens the platform under your forefoot. You get an energy return on every push-off that long technical trails normally drain from your legs. Combined with the SpeedFrame® chassis, the carbon stays stable on rocks and roots instead of feeling skittish like a road super-shoe on rough ground. In short: carbon energy without losing trail control.
How does the X00/C fit: should I size up?
The X00/C runs true to size for most runners, and the SkinKnit® upper adapts to the shape of your foot. If you have a wider forefoot, or you plan to run long with toe-spread on descents, take a half-size up. Toe-box volume is the most common reason buyers move up one half-size on technical trail shoes, the rest of the lockdown is delivered by the SkinKnit® sock-shoe system, not by squeezing your foot.
What kind of trails and distances is the X00/C built for?
The X00/C is the racing and high-output training shoe in the TerraSkin® range. It is built for technical and varied terrain, rocks, roots, mud, wet ground, at marathon distance and faster training paces. Cushioning is set at 3/5 to keep the platform responsive under the carbon plate. For ultra-distance comfort, the X03 is the better choice. For minimum stack and pure speed on dry runnable trails, the X02 is the lighter option.
Do I need to wear socks with the X00/C, or is the sock-shoe system enough?
You can run the X00/C with or without socks. The SkinKnit® upper is engineered as a sock-shoe system: GripFix yarns anchor your foot to the footbed, aligned ventilation channels move moisture, and the seamless knit prevents the hot spots that cause blisters. Most runners wear a thin performance sock for ultra distances. For shorter races, many run without, the system is designed to work both ways.
How does the SpinWeave® outsole grip in mud and on wet rock?
The SpinWeave® outsole pairs a spiderweb-inspired adaptive lug pattern with Vibram® MegaGrip rubber. The lugs dynamically adapt to uneven ground, which means more rubber contact with the surface, on wet rock, in mud, and on loose descents. The result for you: confident foot placement on the downhill, fewer slips on technical sections, and the freedom to run faster on the parts where most shoes ask you to brake.
