Close-fitting functional clothing interacts best with your skin. But the greatest possible freedom of movement needs space. Irreconcilable differences? APANI® MERINO manages both using Next to Skin technology. Maximum freedom comes from highly flexible, soft materials and structurally inherent expansion zones. Experience never-before-imagined freedom of movement that could only be better if you exercised naked.

More than 30,000 temperature sensors, so-called thermoreceptors, continually monitor the thermal balance of your body. Innumerable sweat glands use evaporation to compensate for excessive heat. Conventional clothing blocks this effect. But APANI® MERINO BY X-BIONIC® optimises it. The patented 3D Bionic Sphere® System increases breathing activity and temperature balance all over your body. That turns your performance into more air.

3D BIONIC SPHERE® SYSTEM ON THE CHEST AND ON THE BACK

Cools when you sweat. Warms when you are cold.

A | EVAPORATION SURFACE EXPANDER®

Evaporation of excess moisture across a large surface.

B | OUTER AIRCHANNEL

Moisture is forced out as fresh air flows in.

C | SWEAT TRAPS®

Wick away excess moisture.

B | OUTER AIRCHANNEL

When sweating stops, the cooling process is interrupted.

D | INNER AIRCHANNEL

Warm air is stored inside and insulates.

Pure merino wool protects sheep perfectly from heat and cold. Because sheep don't sweat. If they did, their wool would soak through with sweat and freeze when it was cold. The wool would be cold – and the sheep dead. So we've made wool smarter. For APANI® MERINO, we use the wool of specially bred Saxon Merinos to make ultra-fine thread – half the thickness of a human hair, and perfect for keeping your body temperature at an optimum 37 °C in all climatic conditions. And this thread is woven into the unique 3D Bionic Sphere® System. Pure intelligence – from pure nature.

1 | SWEAT TRAPS®

Designed for large underarm areas to prevent dripping and to cool more effectively.

2 | ISO-SHOULDER

Shirts and jackets often weigh heavily on the shoulders. This is particularly so when the wind tugs at clothing that is saturated with sweat and rain, making it an easy target for cold penetration. ISO-Shoulder® provides effective protection against this. It forms an insulating layer to keep penetrating cold at bay. The material is formed in gentle waves that leave channels instead of lying flat, providing space for air at body temperature. This gives outstanding protection against chilly upper body garments.

3 | AIR-CONDITIONING CHANNEL®

The AirConditioning Channel® on the inside of the arm dissipates heat at a controlled rate. The fine knitted structure immediately ducts moisture away.

4 | ExpansionRibs®

The Expansion Ribs® that form the elbow cushion work similarly to the knee area, but are finer. The knitted fabric folds apart based on the accordion principle, insuring that winter cold doesn‘t cool down the elbows. Even when sharply bent, the insulating effect is maintained through warm air stored in the interior. Protected by Patent EP1476033, DK1476033, SI1476033T, CN3807886, JP 4 546 734

5 | AKTIV-BUND®

Guarantees perfect hold without slipping or constricting.

6 | ISO PAD

Targeted insulation of individual body parts against surrounding coldness can prevent the body from getting cold. This is why ISO-Pads retains body heat that is necessary to guarantee interior organ functionality.

7 | IN THE BACK AND CHEST REGIONS

Our body produces a wide variety of heat in its different regions. The difference is especially extreme at the chest and the back, as these protect the internal organs. Here, the 3D Bionic Sphere® System leaves a fine film of moisture on the skin, which the body does not detect as wetness. Sweat Traps® absorb excessive sweat and wick it away to be evaporated, thus disposing of it through thermal dynamics. A comfortable residual film remains on the skin, to cool it. Because: no sweat = no cooling. When outside temperatures are cool, the complex system of channels produce thermal insulation in stages, while during sporting activity it wicks excessive heat and moisture from a large area effectively away from the system, thus preventing the risk of excessive cooling after sporting activity.
