Meet X-Bionic athletesSWISS-SKI

The Swiss National Alpine Ski Team is a global superpower, having demonstrated its incredible strength and determination in Olympic Games, World Championships, and World Cups.
Its constant application of good science has been one of the key reasons behind its success. From thoroughly tested garments in aerodynamic tunnels through to 3D scans of athletes (in collaboration with Armasuisse) and new training methods, its approach has always been highly academic. This dynamic mix of theory and practice has put the team on track for a series of historic successes.
As official sponsor and partner of Swiss-Ski, X-Bionic® is proud to have contributed to those wins and to the continued performance of all Swiss-Ski athletes.

“X-Bionic has proven the great relevance of perfect functional underwear for our athletes’ body feeling and aerodynamism.” - Christian Zingg, MD of the Swiss-Ski Pool
A history of success
The Swiss national team's alpine ski history stretches back much further than X-Bionic®. The golden era of the 1980s saw phenomenal skiers like Pirmin Zurbriggen, Vreni Schneider, Erika Hess, and Michela Figini all compete on the international stage.
Today, with X-Bionic® supplying the technical base layers and socks, Swiss-Ski is on another medal streak. We’ve supported athletes including:
- Didier Cuche, among the top 10 all-time in FIS World Cup downhill and super-G. Didier collected 186 awards during his career, including the title for oldest World Cup race winner (a feat he achieved, in 2012, while wearing X-Socks®).
- Lara Gut Behrami, an Olympic medalist with more than 20 wins in speed events at FIS. She is currently in the all-time top 10 women racers at FIS and the top five in super-G at FIS, with time yet to make even more history. In 2015-16, she took the overall title in FIS.
- Beat Fuez, an Olympic gold medalist and in the top four of all-time in FIS rankings – with no sign of slowing down.
- Wendy Holdener, a slalom specialist and Olympian.
- Marco Odermatt, an Olympic gold medal winner and a world-renowned figure in giant slalom. He is also an X-Bionic® brand ambassador.

A decade of partnership
X-Bionic® became an official supplier to Swiss-Ski in 2013, providing the best functional ski underwear on the market. Since then, Swiss-Ski has won seven gold, three silver, and six bronze medals at the Olympics.
2014 - Dominique Gisin (G), Sandro Viletta (G), Lara Gut (B)
2018 - Michelle Gisin (G), Wendy Holdener (G), Wendy Holdener (S), Wendy Holdener (B), Beat Feuz (S), Beat Feuz (B), Ramon Zenhausern (S)

An even brighter future
Before the 2019/20 season launch, the Swiss-Ski team met with X-Bionic® to test the new X-Bionic® Energy Accumulator 4.0 using the most rigorous testing environment in the world – the Audi Wind-Tunnel, where the Energy Accumulator 4.0 smashed the performance records of all previously tested products in the tunnel.
In 2019/20, that new standard for aerodynamics helped Swiss-Ski topple the 30-year Austrian reign in the Nations Cup.
The following season, Switzerland was ranked the world’s No. 1 Alpine skiing nation. So it was no surprise when, in 2021, the partnership between Swiss-Ski and X-Bionic® was extended to 2026.
