Fanny Smith
With a career that spans over a decade and a collection of World Cup podiums to prove it, Swiss Olympic medalist Fanny Smith brings fierce precision and fearless style to every race.
Off the slopes, Fanny is more than just a competitor. She’s a role model, a mentor, a multilingual globe-trotter, and a passionate advocate for sport. She carves her own path, one turn at a time.
"I’ve always believed that you need to follow your passions in life."
From childhood passion to world champion
Fanny’s skiing journey began when she was just two years old. Her passion was instant.
By 12, she was competing in major events. At 16, she turned pro. But in 2011, her first big wins were followed by a serious knee injury. Doctors feared she’d never ski again.
Never say never
Defying the odds, Fanny returned to competition just 11 months later.
In 2012-13, she collected six podium finishes, a crystal globe as the world’s top-ranked ski cross racer, and the gold medal at the 2013 World Championships in Norway.
And she hasn’t stopped since…
Now she has two Olympic bronze medals, six World Championship medals and three World Cup wins.
Her career is the stuff of dreams. But it’s her consistency that brings her most joy.
“I’ve ranked in the top three for over a decade,” she says. “You can maybe win a race with a bit of luck, but to be successful in the long term, it’s not about luck: it’s a reflection of all the work I put in over a really long period of time.”
