Vaporisation means that moisture is discharged to the ambient air. This works as long as the ambient air is not saturated with moisture, which is the case with a humidity of 100% or more. When we sweat heavily, the air between the shirt and jacket becomes saturated with moisture very quickly so that the drops soak into the inside of the jacket. Everybody knows this who has cycled up a mountain in a conventional membrane jacket or jogged at a fair pace. Therefore, it makes sense to get rid of this humid air and to replace it with less humid fresh air. This is precisely why X-BIONIC® uses SpaceFrame™ technology. The SpaceFrame™ elements on the inside of the jacket or trousers, between the outer material and the lining ensure that a certain space is always maintained. The individual elements are positioned so that air can flow through selected areas, which carries the hot and moist air with it and which is then replaced with fresh air. In the jackets, the sophisticated air fl ow system extends right up into the specially designed collar where the diffuser provides space for the hot, moist air to escape to the outside air.
